I can’t emphasize enough how much better it is to use templates for measuring. It’s so much more accurate. Tape measures can be inaccurately manufactured; the ends can get loose; corners are tough to get into. If you have some scrap wood lying around, try this method instead. You can overlap the sticks to avoid having to cut them. I use a spring clamp to temporarily hold them together. Then I usually wrap the sticks in tape so it’s easy to transport and doesn’t come apart. It’s easy and reusable!
