How to Slow Down Microorganisms for Better Microscopy
Sometimes microorganisms like paramecia move so fast under the microscope that it’s hard to get a good look at them. In this video, I share two methods I like to use to slow them down: one by limiting the amount of water to physically restrict their movement, and another using a viscous solution like methyl cellulose. I also talk about the pros and cons of each method and show how easy it is to make methyl cellulose yourself. Slowing them down really helps when trying to observe details and capture better images.
