There are four states essentially still in play and it is possible that once deeply republican Georgia could effectively end the drama in a few hours time if it flips to Joe Biden.

Mr Biden told his supporters today that democracy requires a little patience, but the process is working.

The President, meanwhile is running out of road. But not out of fight. He and his team have mounted multiple legal challenges.

And in a tweet, the President said he wanted to call a halt to the counts.
