SA20 Live: Durban Super Giants vs Sunrisers Eastern Cape Live, Cricket Live Score & Commentary
Durban Super Giants face Sunrisers Eastern Cape at Kingsmead, Durban, in the 11th match of the SA20 Season 3 on Friday (January 17).
The Keshav Maharaj-led side has had a mixed tournament. They started off with a win against Pretoria Capitals, then the reverse fixture was abandoned due to rain before losing to Joburg Super Kings in the previous outing. They are in fifth place, with six points from three matches.
It was a dramatic turnaround in their first match, defending a high score to turn the tide from nowhere after the Capitals' openers nearly killed the run chase.
Bowlers bowled well against the Super Kings, but a couple of late surges from the opposition shifted the momentum towards the Faf du Plessis-led side. Quinton de Kock played against his nature and tried to keep fighting with a half-century but didn't have much support as DSG were rolled over for 141 in a run chase of 170.
On the other hand, it is a sorry-looking story for the two-time champions. They have lost all three matches so far and are glued to the bottom of the points table.
The top order has completely failed to respond, while the entire batting unit has stumbled twice for the Aiden Markram-led side. The bowling unit did well against MI Cape Town for most of the innings but was toothless against Paarl Royals and didn't have enough to defend against Pretoria Capitals.
Markram rescued the batting department in Paarl, and Jansen was the lone warrior in Centurion on a tacky surface. His half-century saved the Eastern Cape from an embarrassment, though they were bundled for just 113.
