What to know about the Juneteenth flag

Red, white and blue are the colors of the American flag, but they also grace the face of another quintessential American banner: the official Juneteenth flag.

The red, white and blue colors and the images on the flag reinforce that the enslaved Black people freed by the Emancipation Proclamation were Americans as much as their descendants are today - but that's not where the Juneteenth flag symbolism ends.
