Speaking 42 German Dialects - How Many Can You Understand?? 🇩🇪

The German language is filled with up to 40,000 different dialects across the German-speaking world! Of course, we are not just talking about different German accents, but entirely different words being used to say the same thing. Because of that, a standard German had to be agreed upon just so German speakers can actually communicate with one another! In June, we set out on a mission to share with the world how diverse these dialects are by having real native speakers say example words and sentences in their dialect. From Sächsisch to Swiss German and from Swabian to Plattdeutsch or Fränkisch, how many of these dialects can you understand? 😊
