The “2019–2020 vaping lung illness outbreak” or EVALI was initially thought to be the fault of e-cigarettes. The CDC came down heavily against nicotine vaping and changed the public’s perception of them as safer nicotine alternatives.

Fast forward a few months, and scientists discovered that an ingredient that is often used to cut dab carts, vitamin e acetate, was the culprit of this illness. However, to this day, the CDC has still not come out and corrected their statement on the situation. Now that nobody cares, that is.
