The Samsung Gear VR is designed exclusively for select Samsung Galaxy models (S6 through S10 series) and is not natively compatible with non-Samsung phones or newer Samsung devices like the Galaxy S20-S24 series . However, you can still use the Gear VR as a Google Cardboard-style viewer by bypassing the proprietary Oculus software using a third-party app like Cardboard Enabler .
Important Notes:
You will need a Bluetooth gamepad or controller (such as a MOGA controller) to navigate the Cardboard apps on an unsupported phone, as the Gear VR's side touchpad will not work in Cardboard mode .

Apps like VRTV are great for watching local 3D videos stored on your phone .
