GAPP & ROUSH PRO STOCK PINTO! ORIGINAL! RESTORED! 8 SEC!GEAR JAMMING LENCO! BYRON!

We've all seen the recreations of the vintage NHRA Pro Stock cars popular in the 70's and 80's at the drag strips, so when I happened upon this Gapp & Roush Pinto in the pits I assumed it was another pro stock clone. To my surprise this Pinto is the original Gapp & Roush '76 Pinto campaigned in '76 and '77. The car, owned by 3 previous owners is now owned by Al Schmitt, who also is the crew chief with son Doug handling the driving duties. The pinto is powered by an authentic 413 ci Cleveland with cast iron ford heads with high port plates, cast tunnel intake with dual 1050 dominator carbs. Only modern parts being used are shaft rockers and a msd ignition. Legendary racer "Animal Jim" Feurer of nearby Lacon, Il., built the engine and the father and son restored the car in their Streator Il., shop- https://www.facebook.com/prostockrestorationsandrecreations/.
