Life of Truman the Cape Parrot

This video is a tribute to the wonderful life and friendship of Truman the Cape Parrot. Truman was hatched on March 2, 2010 by Jean Pattison the African Queen and arrived to me in New York City on June 22, 2010. I've had him ever since. We shared many exciting adventures together around the city and around the country. He was named after the movie the Truman Show and it was my intention to share his life with the world.

However, one day Truman flew away while I was intentionally outdoor freeflying him and after a citywide search that appeared on the news it was a miracle to get him back. I came to realize that he didn't so much enjoy the public life he was intended for and let him just be a beloved house pet.

Truman's adventures led to the formation of a parrot meet up group and how I met my wife. She fell in love with Truman from the start and Truman adored her. Truman was even at our wedding.

Sadly, Truman passed away on May 22, 2024 at the age of 14 from a prolonged and untreatable respiratory condition. Truman brought love and joy to all he met and my audience always enjoyed his antics. So, one year since his passing I share this tribute and wonderful memories with Truman the Cape Parrot.
