The Convergence of Movement, Mind & Feeling on the Vestibular Trail | Susan Chandler | TEDxMileHigh
This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. How, exactly, do we orient ourselves in three dimensions and organize our understanding of time and space? Do emotion and cognition connect with this neural map of our bodies in balance? In this fascinating talk, Aikido teacher Susan Chandler explores the role of the vestibular system in knitting together movement, mind and emotion to create the canvas of what we know and where we are.
Susan is a 5th degree black belt Ki-Aikido instructor, speaker, corporate trainer, and radio show host. As a speaker and trainer she has brought the leadership, performance, and communication lessons from Ki-Aikido, known in Japan as Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido, into businesses and organizations since 1991. In 2001 Susan went back to graduate school at Regis University to explore developments in brain science concerning the neural underpinnings of the interconnection between movement, mind, and emotion.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
