Conquer the Fear of Catching Fly Balls in Tee Ball! #shorts

#teeballdrills #youthbaseball #coachingtips

Getting the confidence to stand under and catch a fly ball is one of the biggest mental hurdles for young tee ball players. Fear of the ball hitting them often prevents proper tracking and positioning.

The Velcro paddle and ball technique is a highly effective, low-stress method to take the fear completely out of the equation while building essential catching mechanics.

Key Coaching Points:
• Use a standard Velcro toss-and-catch paddle and the corresponding soft-covered ball.
• Start by tossing soft, underhand pop-ups from a close distance directly to the player.
• Because the ball sticks automatically upon contact, players can focus entirely on tracking the ball's flight without worrying about squeezing a stiff glove.
• This drill naturally reinforces the habit of catching the ball above the waist or chest, building proper muscle memory.
• Gradually increase the height of the tosses as the player's confidence grows.
