Cagliari has seen several peoples settled there over the last five thousand years, from Neolithic until today. There are historical sites, caves and tunnels, an amphitheatre and more than its fair share of ornate churches.

Jean cruises into Cagliari, what was until 1848 the capital of the Italian island of Sardinia. She walks through the gardens of the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Cagliari which displays bronze objects and statues. It is to the side of the walled city, so she shows you where the elevator is to the hilltop Castello. The medieval walled quarter looks over the rest of the town and the view from Bastione Saint Remy is stunning.
After the director's Palace, she visits the 13th-century Cagliari Cathedral and the smaller, older church next door, the Chiesa Ortodossa Russa, parrocchia San Saba. Walking back through the city she finds the Chiesa San Michele and the Ghetto area before finding Elephant Tower and walking up to the Amphitheatre.
Cagliari is an easy port to explore, and finally, the beach is either a long walk or a public bus ride.

This channel comes from Jean and Stuart, and it is mainly on cruising with ship tours and port guides. We hope these films form useful research and help you remember ports you have been to and show friends.

Not everyone gets cruising, they like paying winter fuel bills at home (LOL - not), so if you know someone who is not a cruiser - and we were not, didn't think we would like it, and almost never went even though it was at no cost to us - then look at a few films. We went on that first cruise (sent by ITV to talk about Emmerdale). We loved it, we got addicted, and after a few cruises, we started Doris Visits. I would suggest that if someone says they don't like cruising, it is like saying they don't like hotels. That is all a ship is, a floating hotel. I would suggest that their negative experience is because they chose the wrong ship, and we list over 450 ships on Doris Visits. www.DorisVisits.com

We chat first cruise and much more in our podcast

Enjoy our port videos and ship tours. Consider, as with land hotels, ship per night costs range from about £60 to a thousand pounds a night. There is obviously a difference. We can dream of £1000 luxury but must be realistic when travelling coach. We enjoy even the most budget ships as they all have such different and varied areas you can choose what and where to eat and drink.

NOTHING ON THE TV?

If you enjoy a great (audio) drama then we ask you to listen to, and like the first of this thrilling crime mystery drama that received an official 5-star rating and a nomination from the top American online book club, and mostly top ratings on Amazon (Book, Kindle, Audiobook). It is free to listen to on YouTube and there are nearly 70 x 12 min (approx.) episodes loaded. Nearly 1000 hours in three series. Film deal discussions are ongoing. Find it first here =

When there is nothing on TV then please try it. It plays out as an audio story to videos of ships and ports you need not watch, because it is a gripping thrilling story.
