Sailing the East Coast in a 35ft Island Packet

Sailing Vessel M’Aingeal (My Angel), a 35 foot Island Packet - embarked on a 3 week sailing journey from New Smyrna Florida to Charleston South Carolina and back again. We sailed through an extreme lighting storm that heeled the sailboat on her side. We sailed through the rocky ocean to the calm seas. It was a journey of renewed perspective and rediscovery of the beauty of life. Sailing this vessel gave us an opportunity to learn more about sailing in open ocean and the maintenance involved in caring for sailboat. We experience a full keel Island Packet heel on its side and take on water. At one point the sailboat ran aground and we learned the importance of tide and paying attention to low tide in particular. We enjoyed calm days of sailing the ocean with 25+ knot winds. It was a humbling experience to see just what it takes to cruise the Atlantic ocean in a 35 foot Island Packet Sailboat.
