1. Le Réveil du Titan

Dans la mythologie grecque, les titans étaient des divinités primordiales qui ont précédé les dieux de l’Olympe (Zeus, Hadès, Poséidon, etc.). Ils ont été renversés par leurs enfants, les Olympiens. Une fois vaincus, les titans ont été emprisonnés dans le donjon abyssal de Tartare. Le registre grave des instruments évoque la profondeur de l'abîme au Tartare. Après avoir passé une éternité en sommeil au Tartare, ils ont repris la conscience. Cette pièce joue beaucoup avec la tension rythmique, utilisant de divers moyens tels que les changements de mesures, les temps forts évités et les polyrythmies.

In Greek mythology, the titans were the generation of gods that preceded the Olympians (Zeus, Hades, Poseidon, etc). They were overthrown by their children, the Olympians. The vanquished titans were imprisoned to Tartarus, an abyss and dungeon. The low register of the instruments evoke the abyss of Tartarus. After an eternity dormant in Tartarus, they have awoken. This piece plays a lot with rhythmic tension through various means such as meter changes, avoided downbeats and polyrhythms.

Une collection de cinq mouvements qui explore les différents personnages et capacités des cinq instruments de la quintette. D'un point de vue théorique, cette pièce utilise mon concept de gamme réfractées où les altérations deviennet dièsées en tombant en registre et bémolisées dans l'autre direction.

A five movement collection of miniatures that explores different characters and abilities of the five instruments. From a theoretical point of view, this piece uses my concept of refracted scales where accidentals become sharpened while falling in register and flattening while rising in register.
