Live Better Electrically - Classic TV Commercial Jingle Series - 1957 [RESTORED in DYNA-STEREO]
Originally posted by me in 2008 in SD (yes, that's 14 years ago!), I've discovered my original materials and figured a refresher may be a good idea without the storylines from the first, original video. Here is "Live Better Electrically" remastered a second time with a batch of new plug-ins and noise reduction which were not available then - and I may say I still like the original, noise and all. But there was a problem. There was a film edit in one version which ruined the jingle - and then the sound didn't match and then - - you get the idea. Well these famous (and rare) jingles are now redone (The originals were featured in a bit on The Colbert Report back in the day) with exceptional noise reduction - as the original copies (in small .avi) are poorer than dumped toxic topsoil.
I still can't nail the vocal group. I feel it may be Gloria Wood with Jud Conlon's Rhythmaires since I hear two females. It could also be a 'studio group' like Johnny Mann Singers or Randy Van Horne, etc. but there is a distinctive sound that leads me to my first guess. Any specialists out there who can determine the singers?
Restored as best as possible in Dyna-Stereo...
The complete storyline is on the end screen video about GE's push in the 1950s to electrify rural areas (like we are doing with broadband internet today). Many people STILL didn't have dial telephones or electricity in many places in the United States and used coal heat and iceboxes and kerosene lamps. And radios that ran on batteries.
You get the idea :-)
Enjoy! (narration by Bill Goodwin).
And no Reddy Kilowatt here...
