Who Was the BOY who Helped Create Motion Pictures?

This boy was born before motion pictures were invented. His life began working as an artist painting backdrops in 1900 and culminated with entry into the Art Directors Hall of Fame. More than any other single career, his mirrors the history of the film business, from a risky pastime into the dominant art form of western civilization.

His credits include 100s of films as an art director and scenic backdrop designer. His resume is mind-blowing: The Jazz Singer, Lon Chaney’s Phantom of the Opera, Wizard of Oz, American in Paris, North By Northwest, etc.
