With no sanda opportunities lately, we are experimenting by competing under a few different rule sets. These rules are very challenging - A single 2 minute round with no grabbing, no clinching, no throws or takedowns allowed, no punches to the head but kicks and knees to the head allowed. That still leaves enough to work with. Sam, fighting at 100kg won unanimously over a 130kg opponent who was certainly no push over. The screaming coach failed to realise at the time that his boy couldn't carry out his leg chopping instructions as he had copped an injury from a solid check approx 45 secs in...
