Everyone loves the idea of AI doing most of their work so they can focus on the parts they actually enjoy. The reality is much simpler. AI still needs expert knowledge behind it, and it is nowhere close to running an entire operation on its own.

Teams are trying. They are building workflows, experimenting with agents, and automating everything they can. But we are not at a point where AI replaces the operator. It still depends on human judgment, context, and decision-making that models cannot replicate.

You see the limits everywhere. Agentic systems get blocked. Shopping automations get throttled. Platforms shut things down. Access rules shift. The tools keep evolving, but so do the guardrails around them.

AI can make work faster.
AI can make work easier.
But the idea that AI is ready to take over the whole show is still a fantasy.
