India Speaks Like US State Department, Comments on ‘Freedom of Expression’ and American Democracy

The Ministry of External Affairs of India on April 25 reacted to the pro-Palestine protests at several US Universities. Speaking on the matter MEA Spokesperson said, India is following up the events and said there has to be right balance between freedom of expression, sense of responsibility and public safety and order. Further adding, MEA Spox said Democratic countries should display understanding in regard to other fellow democracies and said that, “after all, we are all judged by what we do at home and not what we say abroad.”
He said, “We have seen reports on the matter and have been following related events. In every democracy, there has to be the right balance between freedom of expression, sense of responsibility and public safety and order. Democracies in particular should display this understanding in regard to other fellow democracies. After all, we are all judged by what we do at home and not what we say abroad.”
