How to Improve the Audio in Your Videos

Here are my tips to help you improve the audio in your videos. I'll explain my current YouTube setup and show you step by step what you can do to get better audio quality in your videos.

Audio quality is more important than video quality for your YouTube videos. To improve the audio quality of your videos the most important things to remember:

1. Reduce the echo by recording in a room with a lot of soft objects like couches, carpet, a bed, etc., or use sound blanks, sheets, or pillows to absorb the sound and reduce the echo in the room.

2. Get the microphone as close to your subject as possible, ideally, you want the microphone 18 inches or closer to the subject to get the best audio quality possible.

3. Use a shotgun mic or another directional microphone that will pick up the voice of the person speaking and reject background noise.

Bonus tip: use your phone to record audio by placing your phone just off-screen and recording a voice note.
