What's Next After Bernie? A Talk by Vivek Chibber
(4/28/2017)
If there is anything we've learned from the 2016 presidential elections, it is the urgent need to organize and resist effectively against the reactionary forces overwhelming our country. For many, particularly young people and students, Bernie Sanders provided a message of hope and possibility for a more just and transparent system. Many have found themselves discouraged and defeated by the outcome of the elections, and are wondering what to do next in a seemingly hopeless situation. But the battle has only begun!
To begin answering these ever-pressing questions, NYU-DSA presents you with our very first political talk by Vivek Chibber: "What's Next After Bernie: From Campus Politics to Class Solidarity"!
How can we, as students and activists, begin to extend our resistance beyond campus and into the real world - and why are socialist demands the optimal alternative for the current political status quo? NYU's very own political and economic sociologist Vivek Chibber, author of "Postcolonial Theory and the Specter of Capital" and several other politically significant works, will address these core issues on solidfying and expanding an effective and inclusive movement that extends beyond rhetoric and into tangible action and solidarity among all.
