The coronavirus pandemic hit the Appalachian region of Tennessee and Virginia especially hard. In November 2020 hospitals were filled to the brim, but in March 2021 the situation is much brighter, and ICUs have cleared out. NBC News’ Dasha Burns spoke to a nurse who shares her experience working on the frontlines.
