Piaggio looks at exports to keep assembly line running
Working with 50% reduced manpower at its plant in Baramati and battling a near-shutdown of domestic demand, two and three wheeler maker Piaggio is focussing on export orders to keep the assembly line running through the second wave. “We have seen a sharp rise in export orders in the last few months and we have exported 2500-3000 three-wheelers and 1,000-2,000 two wheelers per month,” said Diego Graffi, chief executive officer (CEO) & managing director (MD), Piaggio Vehicles. Export orders for its two wheelers are coming from Nepal and Bangladesh. Piaggio exported 19,786 three wheelers in FY21 as compared to 33,979 three wheelers in FY20 and 36,993 units in FY19.
