Brian Finnegan and Ed Boyd, Burwell Bash 2016 Tutors Concert
An exclusive video of Ed Boyd (Flook, Lunasa) and Brian Finnegan (Flook, Kan) playing at Burwell Bash 2016, including a rare first performance of a new tune by Brian written for one of our course organisers.
First set - Three Little Steps (Brian Finnegan)/The Quicken Beam (John McSherry)
Second Set - Ellie Goes West (Brian Finnegan)
The story behind Ellie Goes West:
Ellie West has been coming to Burwell since the age of 3 as her parents created the course in 1991. Having known Ellie since she was 6, Brian wrote and recorded this especially for her to celebrate her marriage to another member of the Burwell Bash collective and her role as a member of the organising committee for the Bash.
Burwell Bash is an annual Folk Music Summer school that takes place every year in Burwell, Cambridgeshire, teaching Flute, Whistle, fiddle, guitar and accordion and melodeon.
Brian has taught at Burwell Bash since 1994 and continues to return each year for the unique environment offered. Brian brings along his wife Eva and his son Ollin each year to take part in all that is going on.
Ed has taught at Burwell Bash since 2001 and returns each year with enthusiasm for teaching on the course. Ed now brings his partner Rachel and their baby daughter Matilda with him to soak up the family friendly atmosphere.
Sound courtesy of Eddie Jones. Video courtesy of Melanie Morris.
