"It did not very well in the box office, but what i felt was that he was a comical man, he had a sense of humour. It was very gentle and very subtle. That could be seen or detected somewhere in his treatment. And personally a lot of sensitivity of his personality and inner chemistry as an individual is reflected in his work.
Surprisingly quite, and yet he managed to get precisely what he wanted from his actors. Sometimes it did not matter if they a were little imprecise also .Often his communication was very minimal in terms of character he would encourage everybody to get into the skin of the character by recounting phases and portion of stories and script but he was very brief in his address and not demonstrative as most of the directors over reacts and acts all sorts of things to infuse the spirit .
His guidance was minimal and yet he managed to get. I think the secret lay in his casting is, he gave a lot of importance to casting and having cast certain individuals, he did go and examine how those person could render lines the way the scrip wants or the scripts desired. He was one of the quietest man on the sit, his shooting process was very quite, no hustle bustle that you see in his studio, the lighting man would address to each other in a softest way and that could be was heard because there was general quite attitude.
