How to Teach a Horse to Lay Down Without Ropes: The Beginning

Using the horse's natural desire to want to lay down after work or after a bath, whip cues, and positive reinforcement; I teach Rhett the beginning of the lay down. First you want the horse to lower the head, then bring the back legs forward. This is where I am at with my OTTB gelding. He still needs some work before he lays all the way down but he has a good start.
