**Always follow the instructions in your repair manual when doing repair or maintenance work on Outdoor Power Equipment. Manuals can be found at the manufacturers website.**
The hydrostatic transmission foot control safety switch on a Kubota B2920 tractor functions as a safety device that prevents the engine from starting when the foot control is not in the neutral position. The switch is a simple on/off plunger switch that is normally closed. When the foot control is in the neutral position, a mechanical linkage rod connected to the foot control depresses the switch plunger, so the contacts in the switch make contact and continuity exists. When the foot control is in the forward or reverse position, the plunger moves away from the switch and the switch plunger moves out so the switch contacts separate, opening the switch so there is no continuity.
The switch is a sealed unit. The body of the switch has two nuts used to tighten the switch in place, and also to adjust how far the switch rests away from the foot control rod with activates the switch.
