Cloudy Day Photography Using A POLARISER on water
There is no such thing as bad light - but maybe you can pick the wrong subject. I’m not suggesting you take up studio photography on rainy days. No! The opposite get out and shoot Landscapes. When the clouds crawl in and the rain starts to fall go down to the woods, and if you find some water get your Polariser out.
Come with me to my local woodland on this week's Landscape shoot and see how I get on in the grey and wet conditions. I’m shooting some woodland and river scenes. An overcast sky keeps the contrast low and the lighting soft, which is ideal for woodland photography. The low contrast is also great for shooting water. I'll show you how I use a polarising filter to control highlights. As the rain falls I take my final image and take advantage of the damp air and rising mist to add depth and recession to the photograph.
