How easy is it to cross the border to Tijuana from San Diego as a tourist? We went for a romantic weekend in Mexico last summer. See how we got on!

If you're travelling to San Diego from Europe or another part of the world, why would a tourist not travel 20 minutes to visit Mexico too? Tijuana is the closest city to San Diego and is well known for its party atmosphere and culture. Unfortunately, it's also one of the most dangerous cities in the world but we wanted to see how dangerous it really is, as a tourist. So, we got an Uber down to the the boarder, walked into Mexico and got another Uber down to the Baja California coast. We were going to stay in Ensenada but it was fully booked because of a wine festival.

We travelled down to Puerto Nuevo, which is famous for its lobster. We got a feast for $20. We had a walk around the market and felt a thousand miles away from the USA, not just 30 miles away!! We stayed in Tecate and then went back via Otay Mesa crossing as we thought it would be quieter than Tijuana on a Sunday night. Find out how we got on by watching the video!
