Solar and Battery Storage Explained with Travis Simpkins of muGrid

The installation of battery energy storage in behind-the-meter applications is poised for exponential growth over the next few years. Batteries can be combined with solar to form grid-connected microgrids meaning that these assets can be used for economic benefit when the grid is operating and then provide resiliency during grid outages. The key to making such hybrid systems economical is to stack revenue from multiple applications, such as peak demand charge reduction, energy arbitrage, providing ancillary services to the grid, and participating in demand response programs, among others.

Solar Works for Illinois (www.cecco.com/solarwebinar) is the monthly show from Continental Electrical Construction Co. (CECCO). CECCO is the largest commercial & industrial solar installer in Illinois with over 75 projects and 25 MW of rooftop, ground mount and small utility scale solar installations.

Solar Works for Illinois hosts presentations about the solar pv industry and presentations by solar developers, general contractors, facility owners and other stakeholders in the energy efficiency and renewable energy industry. Learn how solar pays back (ROI), solar energy, solar plus storage, community solar, utility scale solar, net zero construction, the energy transition, energy policy and solar/renewable energy and sustainable technologies.

Solar works for Illinois is produced by Tim Montague, solar expert and green building authority at Continental Electrical. Please like, comment and subscribe to our channel. Thank you for watching!
