Nanci dance a little
Closer tonight
My bath is running
And tears and your voice
Heal me through the
Night

I heard the pain and beauty
Of every step
You made in life
Texas was Liverpool, Middlesbrough,
Germany and anywhere
I laid my head

When I was tired
I turned to you,
Soothed my soul.
When I needed uplifting,
I turned the deck to you

Over now
Laying your guitar down
And your voice –
Whispering over the prairies
I gave this to you
