Cosmetics Vs Quasi Drugs

Do you know the difference between a Quasi Drug and a cosmetic?

In Japan, cosmetic products are intended to cleanse, beautify, or maintain the skin, hair, and body without altering the body's structure or functions.

Only approved safe ingredients can be used, but they have lower active ingredient concentrations than quasi-drugs.

Cosmetics can make basic cosmetic claims, such as "moisturising," "smoothing," or "brightening the skin’s appearance"—but not medical or treatment claims.

Quasi Drugs are products that fall between cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. They have mild medicinal effects but are not considered full drugs.

They contain higher concentrations of active ingredients compared to cosmetics, but lower than pharmaceuticals.

They can make functional claims, such as "prevents acne," "reduces pigmentation," or "controls dandruff."
