Vanguard Index Funds For Beginners In 2020
FREE 8 Part Stock Market Course ▶︎ https://www.freeinvestmentcourse.com
Here’s how to invest in Vanguard index funds for beginners! In this video, I will be answering all of your questions about index funds. I will be explaining what index funds are, where to buy them, why many people prefer Vanguard index funds and much more!
1️⃣ What Are Index Funds (1:57)
An index fund is a collection of investments designed to replicate the performance of a particular index. For example, the Vanguard 500 Index Fund is designed to replicate the performance as closely as possible of the S&P 500. The S&P 500 index tracks the performance of the 500 largest publicly traded US companies.
2️⃣ Why Do People Buy Index Funds (5:42)
Index funds are rapidly growing in popularity. In fact, data is showing us that money is flowing out of actively managed mutual funds and into passively managed index funds. The main reason why people are buying index funds is the cost savings. It is significantly less expensive for passive management as opposed to an actively managed fund. On top of that, most actively managed funds are not even beating the market!
3️⃣ Vanguard Index Funds (15:01)
Vanguard is by far the most popular place to buy index funds. In fact, there is over $3 Trillion invested across all of the Vanguard funds out there. They are known for having some of the lowest fees and best products in the industry.

4️⃣ Where To Buy Index Funds (33:17)
My #1 pick for buying index funds is a brokerage called M1 Finance. They do not charge any commissions or collect any fees from investors. They are a 100% free investing platform. On top of that, they offer dozens of expert built portfolios that actually invest your money into Vanguard index funds. This takes the guesswork out of building a portfolio.

CORRECTION: In this video, I compared the Vanguard ETFs to the Vanguard Index Mutual Funds. You actually can purchase the Vanguard ETFs through the Vanguard Brokerage Account, which would be the same expense ratio as buying through any other brokerage. I was not aware of this account until after making the video. Here is more info on this account: https://investor.vanguard.com/investing/online-trading/
