‘Dystopian backwater’: Tennis Australia has embarrassed the country
Sky News host Rita Panahi says Tennis Australia has succeeded in portraying Melbourne as “some dystopian backwater” unworthy of a grand slam tournament.
“This entire episode has been embarrassing not just for the Open but for Australia,” Ms Panahi said.
“Wouldn't it be refreshing if the Australian Open organisers focused their energies purely on running a world-class tennis tournament.
“Rather than trying to appease leftist activists or doing the bidding of the Chinese Communist Party.”
