Day 4-PMI- Scope Creep

Project Management Learning
Day 4: Scope Creep

In the world of high-voltage automation, those eight words are terrifying. Adding a few extra I/O points or modifying a relay configuration halfway through execution isn't just a minor tweak; it requires new engineering, new wiring, new testing procedures, and updated documentation.
In project management, this is called Scope Creep: the uncontrolled expansion of project scope without adjustments to time, cost, and resources.

💡 The PMI Lesson: A strong project manager defines the Scope Baseline early. This clearly states what is IN the project, and explicitly states what is OUT.
We don't say "no" to the client, but we do say: "Yes, we can do that, but it will require a formal Change Request to evaluate the impact on our budget and schedule."
Protect the baseline. If you don't control the scope, the scope will control you.

💬 Question for you: What is the most extreme example of "scope creep" you have ever dealt with on a site?
