I know that this video may seem like a bit much, but before replacing violin strings, it really is important to know that EVERYTHING IS RIGHT! Otherwise you may damage or break the next string as soon as it is tightened!

Special Note: I gained even more respect for Paganini after making this video. If you decide to purposely break strings, it is dangerous; for you and for your instrument, and don't try doing it with solid steel strings or without a sharpened steel ferrule or you just might end up with a broken violin lying on the floor.
