How Long Does Air Dry Clay Take To Dry?
How Long Does Air Dry Clay Take To Dry?
1. Core Drying Factors - The thickness of your clay project is the most important factor, High humidity in the air will significantly slow down the process, Warm temperatures and good airflow help moisture evaporate from the clay.
2. How to Dry Faster - Place your project in a warm, dry room with good circulation, Use a gentle fan on a low setting to carry moisture away, Hollow out thicker sculptures to ensure the core dries out evenly.
3. Preventing Cracks & Warping - Do not use direct heat like ovens or hair dryers to dry, Uneven drying from poor airflow can cause your project to warp, Ensure you rotate your piece for even air exposure on all sides.
4. Is Your Clay Dry? - The clay will change to a lighter and much more uniform color, A completely dry piece will no longer feel cool to the touch, It should be very hard, with no remaining soft or damp spots.
