Gerhard Richter, 'Cathedral Window, 2007'

In 2007, Gerhard Richter completed a window for Cologne Cathedral. Perhaps expecting to see a contemporary selection of scriptural narratives, the public were instead left to ponder a stained glass window, containing 11,500 coloured squares. In his defence, Richter claimed that the window represented the 'non-representational nature of the Divine'. We hope you enjoy this video.
