How to Reset your PS4 Controllere (FULL GUIDE)

If you're experiencing issues with your PS4 controller, such as connection problems, button input issues, or joystick drift, resetting it can often resolve the problem. There are a couple of ways to "reset" a PS4 controller, ranging from a simple re-pairing to a full factory reset.
1. Hard Reset (Using the Reset Button - Most Effective for Troubleshooting)

This is the most common and effective way to truly reset your DualShock 4 controller to its factory defaults.

What you'll need:

Your PS4 controller

A small, unfolded paper clip, a SIM ejector tool, or a toothpick

Steps:

Turn off your PS4 console completely. Do not just put it in Rest Mode. You can do this by holding the PS button on a working controller (if you have one) and selecting "Turn Off PS4" from the Quick Menu, or by holding the power button on the front of your console until it beeps twice and turns off.

Locate the reset button. On the back of your DualShock 4 controller, near the L2 shoulder button, you'll find a tiny, recessed hole. This is where the reset button is located.

Press and hold the reset button. Insert your paper clip or similar tool into the hole and press the tiny button inside. Hold it down for at least 5 seconds. You won't feel a strong click, just a small depression.

Release the button.

Connect the controller to your PS4. Use a USB cable to connect the controller to one of the USB ports on the front of your PS4. Make sure it's a data-syncing USB cable, not just a charging-only cable.

Turn on your PS4.

Pair the controller. Once the PS4 has booted up, press the PS button on the controller. The light bar should glow blue, indicating it's paired and ready to use.

This process essentially clears all current Bluetooth pairings and settings from the controller, forcing it to establish a fresh connection with your PS4.
