GameSir has unveiled its latest Xbox accessory this week in the form of the G7 SE Wired Controller, and it's reportedly the "world's first Xbox controller with Hall Effect Sticks" - available right now for $44.99 / £49.99 / €59.99.

If you're wondering what Hall Effect Sticks are, the idea behind them is that they shouldn't be prone to drifting as they use "non-contact magnetic sensors" to ensure durability and reliability.

In addition to the special sticks, the G7 SE Wired Controller also features back button quick latches and a swappable paint-friendly faceplate, which GameSir says "adds an extra layer of individuality to the gaming experience".

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has revealed his latest thoughts on Xbox's takeover of Activision Blizzard, commenting in an investor briefing earlier this week that he feels the merger is "good news" for a couple of reasons in particular.

Specifically, Guillemot believes that the deal shows how valuable and influential IPs can be, which should result in more "fantastic" opportunities for other companies in the future. He's also keen to hear that Microsoft is putting a focus on mobile gaming as part of the transaction, as it's "in line" with Ubisoft's attempts to be "stronger" in this area.

At this point we all know what happened with Redfall earlier this year - Arkane Austin's 2023 shooter just didn't hit the mark, leading fans to question why the longtime single-player developer pivoted to a multiplayer project. Well, regardless of the team's motive for the move, it doesn't appear to have been very long lasting.

The developer has just opened up lots of new job opportunities at its Austin office via the ZeniMax website, and some of the "preferred skills" section within these listings hints at what's to come from the team. A 'Lead Technical Engineer' role is hoping candidates have "familiarity with single player action-RPGs and immersive sims".

Well, that certainly sounds like an Arkane project to us! While we've heard nothing official on what's next from the now-Xbox-owned team, it's looking increasingly likely that their follow-up to Redfall will be a single-player title - as you'd expect from Arkane Studios.

With its prospects of blocking Xbox's Activision Blizzard merger dimming, the Federal Trade Commission [FTC] is hitting the brakes on its trial scheduled for August.

In a filing submitted on July 18, Xbox submitted a motion to withdraw the proceeding, to which the FTC today responded with no objection. While this would seem to spell the end for the FTC's administrative challenge of the $69 billion merger, it remains possible the FTC will either refile or reach a settlement with Microsoft. The decision follows the recent verdict denying the FTC's request for a pause on the deal, which was upheld by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
