What is the best travel credit card? (WRONG QUESTION!)

Everyone has an opinion (and financial interest!) in telling you what credit card to sign up for for free travel. But I fundamentally and philosophically disagree with that approach. Instead, I firmly believe, especially when someone is starting out, that deciding where to go and how to get there is absolutely necessary before deciding what credit card strategy to pursue.
