This 85-mile stretch of land has some of the dirtiest air in the United States. Dubbed ‘Cancer Alley,’ this area of Louisiana has 150 plastic plants, chemical facilities, and oil refineries.
Due to toxic emissions from the plants, residents within the region are at a higher risk of cancer, cardiovascular and respiratory disease, and reproductive and developmental disorders. A group of activists are pushing for a moratorium placed on the opening of any new plastic facilities.
