How to Clean Invisalign Retainers

Cleaning your Invisalign aligners and retainers is an important part of your treatment. Keeping the aligners clean, as well as your teeth and mouth, will keep your treatment progressing smoothly, your oral health up to standards, and prevent decay, gingivitis, and cavities.

In this video, Diamond Braces clinical assistant Ilya explains how to clean your Invisalign retainers using the Invisalign cleaning crystals provided with your treatment.

Each set of retainers comes with 3 packets of cleaning crystals. Dissolve 1 packet into a clean cup of water. Stir it for 20 seconds with a clean spoon to fully dissolve the crystals into the water. Drop your Invisalign retainers into the water: it’s fine to put both top and bottom retainers in the same cup.

Let them soak in the mixture for 15 minutes. Then, stir the water for another 20 seconds to thoroughly coat the retainers. Remove them and run them under cold tap water to wash off the crystal solution. Then pop them back in your mouth: you’re good to go!
