1945 Kuching POW Camp 6 Weeks after Japanese Surrender

NOTE: Before you watch the video, it is worth knowing that the uniformed men who appear to be Japanese soldiers taking inventory are actually Formosen.

This is Borneo, WW2, around 6 weeks after the surrender of the Japanese and Red Cross food and supplies had reached the POW's. My Mother ( Rosemary Beatty ) and Grandmother ( Lila Beatty ) are amongst the civilian internees shown here who are all mentioned in the book "Three Came Home" by fellow internee and author Agnes Newton Keith.
