Things to do at Grand Canyon WEST RIM

You’re finally planning a trip to the GRAND CANYON, but… where do you start? What points can you visit? Where is the Skywalk? What else is there to do?

All these questions and more are addressed in this 2-part video series on what you can do at the Grand Canyon.

In this video, we cover the major points of interest at the West Rim of the Grand Canyon—also known as Grand Canyon West. It is important to note that the West Rim is NOT a part of Grand Canyon National Park, and is Hualapai Indian Tribal Territory.

→The West Rim is the rim closest to the Nevada/Arizona border.

There are a couple of different ways you can get to Grand Canyon West:

1. Drive

If you choose to drive, you will likely be coming from either Las Vegas or Arizona. The drive time from Las Vegas, NV, is approximately 2-3 hours. From Flagstaff, the drive is 3.5 hours, and from Phoenix–approximately 4 hours. Admission into Grand Canyon West requires the purchase of a Legacy Ticket, which can be found on Grand Canyon West’s website.
2. Fly

Grand Canyon West Airport is a public airport at the West Rim. You can fly in via either helicopter or airplane. If you choose to fly with Maverick Helicopters or Maverick Airlines, you have the option of departing from Las Vegas (Maverick Helicopters) or Henderson (Maverick Airlines).

If you would like extended exploration time at Grand Canyon West, we recommend our Skywalk Odyssey or Indian Territory experience, where you will be flown into the Grand Canyon West Airport and shuttled to Eagle Point. From Eagle Point, you have your own time to explore and utilize the hop-on-hop-off shuttle to visit other points. Additionally, the Indian Territory experience includes a helicopter landing at our private landing bluff, located at the bottom of the canyon. Admission into Grand Canyon West is included in both tours. Skywalk is included in the Skywalk Odyssey, and an optional experience for the Indian Territory.

For the time-conscious traveler who would like to fly to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, we have helicopters departing from both Las Vegas and Grand Canyon West Airport and landing at our private bluff. The Wind Dancer begins at Las Vegas, while the Grand Canyon Discovery begins at GCW.
