GENDER ROLES VS. MASCULINE AND FEMININE ENERGY | SURVIVING DATING IN 2021

Welcome back to my channel! Today is the first official episode of my Surviving Dating series which is geared toward making dating less "ghetto" in 2021. I too feel the struggles that both millenials and Gen Z feel with healthy relationships. In case you're wondering, I STILL have not had any luck with dating in Atlanta (yikes!) Dating in a major city is tough but I'm still on a mission to improve communication with men and women. Regardless of if you're single in Atlanta, single LA, single in NYC or dating in Atlanta, dating in LA, or dating in NYC - this series will provide you with valuable insight.

I think that we can all agree that gender roles are one of the biggest points of conflict with dating and relationships. Men are often characterized as having toxic masculinity, being judgmental, and are called out for benefiting from the patriarchal structure of society. Women are accused for being overly-masculine, dominant, and struggling to submit. The truth of the matter is that roles have reversed DRASTICALLY since women were prohibited from having basic rights. We are very much still feeling the aftershock of the Suffrage and Feminist movements today.

This dynamic is especially problematic in the Black community as there are additional layers of complexity: broken family dynamic stemming from slavery, mass incarceration, welfare incentives for fatherless homes, etc. Oh yes..we're going to talk about it!

Ultimately, my standpoint on gender roles are that they are vastly outdated and do more harm than good. I'm proposing that we adjust our viewpoints and begin learning more about masculine energy and feminine energy. These energies play a HUGE role in dating and relationships and general.
