Going old school, in this video we will be showing you how to split a block of stone using the traditional method of plugs and feathers in our yard in Wrexham. This method has been used for centuries and is still considered one of the most effective ways to split stone. It involves drilling holes into the stone using a specialized drill bit, called a feather and plug drill bit. The holes are then filled with steel wedges, called feathers, and wooden plugs. The plugs are then hit with a hammer, driving the feathers into the holes, causing the stone to split along the line of the holes.
