ISA Portfolio Update | April 2026 | Inflation, unemployment, and AI disruptions.
April 2026 Portfolio Update (£33,142) | NASDAQ 100 vs S&P 500 + Oil Shock, CPI & Rate Decisions
In this April 2026 update (recorded 30/04/2026), I break down a £33,142 portfolio split between EQGB (Invesco NASDAQ 100) at £16,886 (+£2,418, +21.35%) and VUAG (Vanguard S&P 500) at £16,256 (+£1,734, +20.6%), both accumulation funds. I explain why the balance is down from £35,870 in December: before the tax year ended I sold a VHVG position in a general investment account for £8,754 to use part of the £3,000 CGT allowance, then reinvested half (£4,372) during the March/April dip and kept the rest in a high-interest savings account. He reviews the Iran oil shock driving UK CPI to 3.3% and Brent to ~$120, the MPC holding rates at 3.75% (8–1 vote), and a divided Fed holding 3.5–3.75% as Powell’s last meeting, with Kevin Warsh incoming. I close with five watchlist risks: oil shock/stagflation, AI and jobs, weakening consumer sentiment and gambling, aggressive corporate borrowing, and markets potentially underpricing the conflict and its inflation impact.
