Brenda Lee, The Kingsmen & Rolling Stones (Complete Show)

A "Killer B" show. Had to post this one because it's the cleanest copy that I have seen. In particular, Brenda's performance of Chad and Jeremy's "Yesterday's Gone" is far less "wrinkled" than the versions that have floated around YT for years. Be sure to stay tuned for another one of our famous "Mostly Brenda" trailers. Menu below - click time to skip to the song you want.
0:00 Introductions
1:40 Barry McGuire "Lonesome Road"
------ Gravelly voiced Barry McGuire(1935-) was part of the folk scene in the early 60s, albeit the decidedly commercial side of it as part of the New Christy Minstrels. He struck pay dirt as a solo act with the recording of the immortal "Eve of Destruction". Barry continued to perform well into his 70s until falling onstage. At 79, he claims not to be retired, but just cutting back on his schedule. Notably, he was name-checked in the Mamas and the Papas’ song “Creeque Alley”. The lyric being "McGuinn and McGuire, couldn't get no higher" which refers to him and Roger McGuinn of The Byrds.

4:22 The Kingsmen "Money"
----- "Louie, Louie" might be considered the first garage band song. The wild vocal by Jack Ely is a rock landmark. Unfortunately, he left the band and the guy singing lead here is not Ely, but Lynn Easton. Jack Ely (1943 – April 28, 2015) R.I.P.

7:53 Barry, Brenda & Barbara "Gotta Get it Going"
8:56 Barbara McNair "You're Going Love My Baby"
------McNair (1934 – 2007) was a popular nightclub and TV performer. This may be her only song to chart and maybe only in the U.K. She was the first black female to host a variety show (1969-1971). This particular performance is rather odd and not representative of her talent. She is off-rhythm at the start. Only when she steps forward does the song "get going", but even then there is a rather awkward and abrupt ending. Then, in the next part, they obviously edited out her solo line for some reason.
